NXP Simultaneous Units
The Okanagan Correctional Institute is a state of the art LEED Gold facility. Aermec NXP simultaneous water units were chosen in order to attain the LEED Gold Status. Ten simultaneous units were installed in order to take advantage of the varying conditions in the prison.
There is always a need for heating whether it is heating or domestic hot water. The institution’s location in Southern BC has a fairly consistent cooling load for comfort cooling as well as telecommunications, interior guard houses, and data centers. The NXP units use a geo loop when required but most of the time they are just moving heating and cooling loads around the five buildings. The NXP units are self contained and they monitor supply water, return water as well as the geo source. The NXP turns pumps on an off as required in order to keep the building comfortable as well as provide the maximum efficiency without moving any refrigerant through the building, as the NXP units recover heat via water.
The NXP also provides a very significant benefit compared to other equipment. It has three separate heat exchangers so that glycol is not needed on the building side of the heating or cooling loops nor does it need any remote valves or special controls to control the load.
